Children are NOT to have aspirin due to Reye's Syndrome which is usually fatal. National Reye's Syndrome Foundation quote

Reye's Syndrome, a deadly disease, strikes swiftly and can attack any child or adult without warning. All body organs are affected, with the liver and brain suffering most seriously. While the cause and cure remain unknown, research has established a link between Reye's Syndrome and the use of aspirin and other salicylate-containing medications.

Call his doctor to discuss other options.

Good luck.

My son had his stitches taken out of his hand 8 days ago- a few days after that he developed a lump under the site of the wound- and some bruise type area to the right of it. We took him to the dr and she said it was a blood clot that had formed and we needed to massage it to make sure it didnt become a calcium deposit. we have been doing that but it is taking a long time to see little change- would baby aspirin help to break up the clot? someone recommended that- but -I dont know?

it is not red and not infected at all- just the lump Thanks

Definately don't use aspirin in children. Even small clots can take several weeks to dissolve and go away so if it's a little smaller than it started I'd keep doing what you're doing.

Possibly a warm compress might speed it up a little (emphasis on little), but I'd say 4-6 weeks unless something else is going on in the area -- pain, decrease strength.
