I think you should go to the ER or an Urgent Care center (you'll get treated more quickly there). They will give you meds that will not only stop the migraine, but will also help you sleep. Just so you know, you won't be able to drive yourself home. Also, they can refer you to a neurologist or another physician to help you figure out what's causing your migraines and what will help. Good luck!

Last night I fell asleep quite comfortably and was violently awoken by a tremendous migraine.

Felt like someone took an axe and opened up my head while I was sleeping. My stomach felt nauseaus and weak. I got up, took two extra strength tylenol with water, and sat down. Lights were too bright, my eyes were very sensitive, covered my eyes with my hands to block out light from TV.... five minutes later I was like an open fire hose, throwing up everything in my stomach. The migraine continued.

I didin't know if the two tylenol had gotten into my system - as I threw them up - so I waited until 2:00 a.m. to take another two tablets..... 1/2 hour later, I threw up clear water and white blobs, probably the tylenol as there was nothing else left in my stomach. I had to call into work (UPS) as i was supposed to go in at 4 a.m. but couldn't even THINK about driving, never mind working.

At five a.m. I tried clear tea and toast, with two more tylenol.... I was able to barely keep that down... all day, every three hours, I need to take tylenol and my head starts throbbing when it wears off...

I called my doctors office and asked if it would be okay to take one of my other presriptions, Naproxen ( was given that due to my recent diagnosis of cubicle tunnel syndrome to left hand and pinkie finger/ring finger).... they said okay. I took Naproxen 500 mg two hours ago, and also had some bread with it ..... my migraine is still pulsating.... no relief that I can notice....

what should I do? Go to the ER? I don't want another night of no sleep PLUS UPS will be mad if I don't show up for work, so I've got to sleep somehow.....

SHould I take another Naproxen? Should I go to hospital?.... I just can't bare this anymore... I guess count my blessings I'm not throwing up... yet..... please help.....

dark rooms and cold compresses to the head might help some.

If I were you I would not take any more over the counter medicaitons -- they can cause rebound headaches and when experiencing migraines they are really useless. I would also go to the ER -- they will be able to treat the migraine and give you relief and sleep. Have you ever taken abortives for migraines? Have you ever had a migraine before? You should have your doctor check you out as well, any change in headaches or new headaches should always be checked out by a doctor. Go to the ER.

I wish you the best and some relief.

Ive suffered MANY migraines like this and I think you should go to the ER! If the pain is that bad, why suffer another night of it? Migraines are awful and nobody should ever have to suffer from one! At least they can get rid of it for you until you can see your regular dr. and you can get some sleep!

Hi

Go to the hospital immediately if you are unable to see your doctor. Anyways, Naproxen at 500mg is not a dosage for migraine treatment. Call work and tell them that you will bring with you a note from the hospital stating that you were there (Actually obtain the note and bring it to work when you go in) and that you will be returning to work as soon as possible. If they give you trouble you could mention that it would irresponsible on their part to put such an ill person behind a vechile with their knowledge, that you are a liability. You can use that if you want or say something along those lines. And instead of taking Tylenol for your migraines try taking Advil or Excedrin migraine. I hope you feel better soon.
