I began Fosamax with D nine weeks ago. At the same time I b egan Calcium carbonate, and Vitamin D 1000 units daily. I also started walking 45 to 60 minutes daily. I feel miserable; my stomach feels like there is concrete in it. I am constipated and have no energy. "Does anyone have any suggestions?

Take a calcium citrate like Citracal. It's less constipating and more easily absorbed. Take it at mealtime. Check the dosage. Usually 2 pills is one dose. And drink plenty of water.

I forgot to mention that I have gained 5 pounds since beginning Fosamax. Anyone else have this problem?

Calcium is constipating. You need to be sure to take enough magnesium with it. You should have half the amount of magnesium as calcium-500 calcium, you need 250 magnesium. This is a lot more than in typical calcium + magnesium supplements. Believe me, it's almost miraculous-lol!
