I had two wisdom teeth pulled, both on the bottom. The procedure was yesterday morning at 10:15. It took about 20 or so hours for the bleeding to stop, I'm currently not wearing the gauzes now because the bleeding has stopped.

The dentist told me that I can completely recover and eat normal foods by Christmas Eve (which is good for me, there's a nice dinner in store that day). But my sister who had all four pulled at once said that I'm nuts (dentist too) for thinking I can eat normal solid foods again by even tomorrow, much less Christmas Eve. I barely feel any pain, I never felt anything more than very slight pain. Although I do have a high tolerance to pain, I'm pretty sure nothing was aggrevated in my mouth and the pain meds are working fine. I'm set to meet the dentist again January 3rd.

I've eaten very few things. Yesterday I had only two popsicles and two glasses of water. Today I had two glasses of V8, one popsicle, and three glasses of water. I really want to eat actual food soon! If not for me missing just for the sake of eating something substantial. Is it okay for me to graduate up to other soft solid foods right now and which kinds do you think are good for me right now? Can I even have soup? Thank you for the help :^)

Did your sister go to dental school?

These are questions that should be answered by your dentist only. Not your sister or people on the internet. Look at his discharge instructions again. If you're unclear then give him a call. I'm sure he has a number you can call after hours if necessary.

Wow....I had all four of mine taken out at the same time and had a very fast recovery with hardly any pain or swelling and it STILL took me at LEAST 3 days to get back to normal food. Just remember, the earlier you eat solid food, the higher your risk for dry socket (when the blood clot dislodges and the bone is exposed....VERY VERY PAINFUL!!!!). I highly recommend talking to your dentist.
