hello everyone. i am new here. can someone please help me... i feel like i am going to die. i am a single parent of 3 young kids, one of them battling with ADHD. i never had problems with asthma until i caught pneumonia at the end of my first pregnancy. now i have asthma flare-ups with any type of sinus trouble, or upper respiratory infections. my doc has put me on prednisone for like 12 days and he gave me advair 2x a day. and i have albuterol with ipratroprium (atrovent) for my nebulizer. i also have an albuterol inhaler. it seems to give me some relief, but lately i could have just used the inhaler or breathing treatment and i went to the gym and immediately after my 1 hr workout i felt like i couldn't breathe. now mind you i was a lil nervous in the gym b/c i don't like working out in front of men. also yesterday, i had to go to the dr. so i pretreated myself with the nebulizer treatment. and once i left the dr's office i started feeling like i couldn't breathe so i tried to help myself figure out if it was asthma or panic attacks so i took my panic disorder/anxiety attack medicine, which is ativan, and the feeling of being breathless went away...i know i am under alot of stress. i just don't understand. i also tried to go to the mall after i had given myself a neb treatment. i got to the mall and i felt like i couldn't walk b/c i was so winded and short of breath. i just want to get better, as i know we all do. is anyone else out there dealing with asthma and panic attacks? i need some feedback. can you help me? **betterhealth252

Hi I am new to this also. I was diagnosed with bronchitis. I was put on fast acting ihaler. I have sinus problems I started having what they call bronchio spasam. I cannot catch my breath I make a weird noise when I try to get my breath once I relax it starts to go away but it is very scary my daughter called 911 because I couldnt catch my breath. I scared my husband the other morning because I woke up with this gasping for breath. How can it be an anxiety attack when you are sleeping. I am so confused my doctor put me on prednisone and advir inhaler 2x a day. It usually happens when I cough. Sorry I may seem like I am bouncing around but I am scared and concerned. I had a chest x ray that was fine I am going for a chest ct next week. It helps to talk to someone else with the same type of problem I also have 3 children. Mine are teenagers. help

hello how are you? bronchiospasm sounds like it is scary. all of this stuff is a lil overwhelming. bronchiospasms is that the same as asthma? it sounds like we are on the same meds. i use advair 2x a day as well. are you on any meds for your anxiety attacks? i think when anxiety awakens you, it is what is going on in your sub-conscious. i have had a chest x ray and it was fine. i hope your chest ct comes out fine. please know that God is here for you. read Jeremiah 33:3 it will comfort you. be blessed.

After having asthma for 20+yrs then as my asthma was getting worse I started with anxiety attacks to the point I couldn't go to crowded places or even eat in a restaurant with my back to the crowd. At that point I started seeing a psychiatrist who gave me xanax and found out most of the anxiety was stress caused by my failing marriage and my asthma that wasn't under control even though I was working with asthma patients for over ten years at the time I never noticied that my treatment wasn't correct. And after working on the stress with my marriage. (I got a divorce)And was put on the correct meds the anxiety disappeared for about 7yrs until I came down with a very rare lung disease and was hospitilized over 10 times and had major surgery and now I am waiting for a lung transplant. The anxiety came back with a vengence so I came to the conclusion that it's stress related and until I have that under control the anxiety will remain.I hope you feel better. Randy

You may want to look into antibiotic treatment for asthma. Do a search for "asthma, antibiotic, zithromax"- it sounds like it may help you. Good Luck!
