My one friend keeps asking me how tall will he get since I am going to school to be a doctor. He is 6'3 and in 9th grade. His parents are tall. He has had no growth spurts yet. Any guesses?

Louise-Cool, I used this for all four of my kids. It guessed what my kid's doctors have predicted spot on. Thanks!

That tool is completely inaccurate. I tried it on 4 of my friends and they were all way off. I would never consider that thing.

wait till later in the highschool. He will grow and sounds like he has a tall history as well. So, tell him to wait and he'll be right up there with his parents and the basketball pros. Hope he doesn't get too anxious on the growth spurt, growing pains really suck. But, he will get taller, it is normal for boys to grow later in their life than girls, so, he'll get up there.

Do you have any guesses on how tall he will be and when you mean by later in highschool, do you mean like senior yearish?

The doctor said around 6'8 or so. I think that 6 in is a pretty damn big difference

I always heard you should double a child's height at age two to get their adult height.

To accurately predict a person's final height, a doctor would have to measure the amount of cartilage still between the major joints. So if your friend want's a more accurate estimate, he should see his doctor. My dad was 6 feet tall in 6th grade and never grew another inch so anything is possible. In other words, an internet board can't possibly predict with 100% accuracy what your friends height is likely to be. He might already be at his full height or he might still grow several more inches.

my son has seen an endocrinologist several times for height/weight issues. cartilage was never measured. yes, this may be one tool, but the rough calculation offered here is fairly accurate and pediatricians (not specialists) do use charts based on norms. if a person is outside of the norm, obviously a crude chart would be less accurate.
