How effective is metformin and lipitor in removing fat deposits in my liver.I have been diag with an enlarged liver.Does flax seed help to lower cholesterol.When is the best time to take plant sterols.

Ground flax seed has been shown to lower cholesterol as one of the benefits of Flaxseed. Elaine Magee, our Healthy Cooking expert, loves flax seed and can help you find ways to use it. It is one of the easiest alternative ways to lower cholesterol safely. Plant sterols are another. About 2 grams of Plant Sterols as part of a healthy diet is the recommendation.

The Lipitor and Metformin treat the underlying cause of the fatty liver as will lifestyle changes, like gradual weight loss, (you don't want to lose weight too fast, as that causes further liver damage), balanced diet, and treatment of any diabetes or high cholesterol.
