I need help w/ my daughters excema! She is beautiful little girl but she has flare ups on her face and it's extremley bad in her head which has caused some hair loss as well. Her dermatologist prescribed her desonide & aptioclair but it doesn't seem to be working and we use Dove sensitive for her baths which are every day or every other day. Besides Aquaphor what other creams is everyone using and do you have any advice for me?

We use Eucerin for my DS. He also only gets baths 3 times a week and a quick wipe off if he needs it. I know somepeople also but baby oil in the bath water and then put on the lotion. They say that it help seal in the moisture. For my DS Eucerin has worked the best.

My ds only gets two baths a week as we were told bath water could dry out his skin and make his eczema worse. We use Cetaphil lotion on a daily basis and Aquaphor when he has flare-ups. I only use his prescription for bad flare-ups and I usually mix it with OTC hydrocortizone cream before applying.

I've only ever used Baby Aveeno body wash for him (I really like the kind with the lotion in it) and occasionally Dove, I just think his skin does better with the baby aveeno. Now that he's starting to need an extra bath (getting dirty play outside) sometimes we got this baby oil body wash (I hate how the baby oil alone makes the tub sooo slippery) but we haven't got around to trying it yet.

Unless your DD is playing in dirt or something every day, you can try giving her fewer baths. If you don't already slather her with her lotions right before bed and cover her up with pjs (if you can, if it isn't too hot) so it can really soak in. When ds gets it on his face, he won't let me put the lotion on his face (he's hated having lotion on his face since he was an infant) so I have to wait until he's asleep and apply it then (thick), at night, I'll sometimes reapply half-way through the night since he won't really have it on during the day.

HTH!

Try jojoba oil. It is the best thing ever. My daughter had excema and after just a few treatments with this oil, it went away. It was so successful in fact, that I started researching it and began using it as my own moisturizer. Almost immediately the acne I have suffered from for the past 15 years vanished. This is good stuff! - it mimics human sebum so restores the balance to upset skin.

Google it, you will be very impressed!
