So i'm down and out sore throat..hurts to swallow...dry mouth...feels like i'm often talking outside of myself...like it's muffled and dizzy...chills then hot flashs for hours, absolutely no appetite since friday and all i want to do is sleep..the part that is getting me worked up is when i'll blow my nose and hardly anything will come out but i'll be able to breathe through my nose for a few seconds...the third or fourth time i blow my nose, in the mucus there are bloody lumps..hard kind of gooey bloody lumps...what the heck? Never had this happen before. My doctor can't get me in until friday...is there anything i can do until then?

it really feels like when i had mono but i heard that a person can't have mono twice?

I am no doctor but If you are having a fever then you know it is some type of a infection. Haveing chills does indicate that. I would just watch the fever and if it gets high go to the hospital. I also found this website to be helpful. How much are you bleeding? It could be from trying to blow. Bloody lumps almost sounds like clots. Do you have sinus problems? And the lose of appetite is not great but stay hydrated with lots of water and tylenol to take down any fever. Hope this helps.

You many not get mono twice...but there are a few hundred other viruses that can cause similar symptoms. Unfortunately, there is really no way for me, or any medical provider, to diagnose you via the Internet, based on symptoms alone. I am sorry that you have to wait until Friday, but that hands-on examination is really the only way to get to the bottom of your symptom array. Of course, since most viruses only last about a week, you may be feeling better by Friday.

Treating the symptoms are fine. Ibuprofen for the discomfort and inflammation (assuming you can take this sort of medication). Salt water gargles. Drinking lots of fluid. Saline nasal sprays. Perhaps, even some decongestants would be appropriate.
