MY NAME IS ERNESTINE AND I JUST FOUND OUT RECENTLY THAT I HAVE CARDIOMYOPATHY. I WAS VERY DEVASTATED AND HAVE BEEN IN DENIAL UNTIL THE LAST TIME ENDED UP IN THE HOSPITAL. I REFUSED TO TAKE MY MEDS AND JUST DIDN'T WANT TO ADMIT THAT I HAVE A DISEASE. I NEED TO KNOW HW ARE YOU COPING WITH THIS DISEASE?

Dear Ernestine (ACHILDSPLACE),

I am glad you are now taking your diagnosis seriously. Cardiomyopathy was a secondary contributor to my father's own death, and he never even knew he had it.

Perhaps someone else here wll chime in and offer their own experience or support. Please check with your doctor's office, local hospital, or online at the American Heart Association to find support groups in your local area.
