Celexa and strange dreams?

I have been on Celexa (Citalopram) for about a month and a half now. I feel much better as it's really helped my mood and anxiety. I have noticed, however, that I have been having strange dreams almost every night. I wouldn't call them nightmares, they're just odd/strange. Before going on the medication I would dream occasionally (or at least occasionally remember them) but these dreams are just different and they occur almost every night and I always wake up remembering them. I was just wondering if anyone else who takes or took Celexa experienced the same thing? Thank you!

The good news is that this actually is NOT a change in your dreaming patterns, as every night you dream, your brain just tends to "file it away" before you wake up, a process that continues throughout the waking process. That's one reason why it's far easier to remember a dream in the morning and by noon, you might have forgotten nearly the entire thing.

The important thing to remember when having "sleep side-effects" like that one from medication is that as long as it's not coupled with a sense of lethargy, difficulty sleeping (or staying asleep), or a general malaise, it's really nothing to worry about all that much. Medications like Celexa work on the internal functions of the electrochemical processes of the brain, so naturally, it's not all that hard to imagine there being "fluke" side-effects, like easier-to-remember or more vivid dreams.

Some people experience that, some people don't. Either way, it's really quite common and really not a sign that anything "bad" is happening, it's just the processes of your brain changing, and isn't that why we use these sorts of medications anyway?

I have been on citalopram for about two and half months now. everything i've found online for side effects says its definitely normal to be experiencing strange dreams. but, if it makes you feel any better to relate to somebody, I have been having the same issue! it may sound weird, but it makes going to bed interesting! and I agree, they aren't necessarily nightmares, but they are just very vivid and real!
