Toughen up Buttercup!

But there is a cream to numb the skin I got it for Sophie when she was tiny. It was a pain- apply to the area 30 min. before shot, etc and it only numbs the skin, not the muscle. And I gave her a little tylenol first. But these days I'm not so soft anymore. I even opt for the antibiotic shot when I get the chance.

I got my flu shot 2 days ago- my arm was sore yesterday, but today it is fine.

I hate shots... for myself, my little ones, anyone. There has GOT to be something that can help. If there is that cream that dentists use to numb your mouth before shots, why can't we put that on our kids' skin first?

It just breaks my heart to take them to get shots... Any ideas out there?

Oh and I think the stuff I have looks like this, but I don't remember it costing that much. I just asked the pharmasist and he recommended the cream to me. Maybe it was a much smaller tube.

I just got my flu shot today and the shot itself didn't hurt at all, it is my arm afterwards that is the problem. But it will only hurt today and tomorrow, worth it to not be sick this year. I do however wish there was something that I could do for DD just because she gets so many at one time, it just breaks my heart.

Emla Cream numbs the skin.

You could put Lidocaine on. It has a numbing agent in it.

lidocaine won't work unless it's making contact with a mucus membrane. trust me, i own some.

if you're gonna have them take shots etc etc, like pp said, toughen up. i'm sorry there's nothing but to suck it up.
