Replying to: Period while Pregnant?

Hey, Ive posted a few times and I wanted to ask yet another question. The story so far is that about a month ago, there was an accident right after my period ended. Ive had lots of early symptoms of pregnancy but havent tested yet. I was supposed to go to the doctor yesterday, but didnt make it because of car trouble (I am getting rescheduled today) I started my period on Sunday and I was consigned to the fact that Im not pregnant. The weird thing is that my period pretty much stopped last night! So my period was only 3 days. Ive heard that its possible to have a period while being pregnant so my question is:

What are the chances that I am pregnant and still have a period?

Thanks again everyone.

I have the exact same situation...

My husband and I tried to conceive on the last day of my highest ovulation pick (October 12, 2008). My period was due on October 29, but I got my period/bleeding on October 25, lasted until last night (October 27). It was very light compare to my regular period. I took the pregnancy test before the period and it was negative. But I have very very very bad back pain for last two weeks, I am getting very hungry, very tired, and I feel like I have pain in my stomach. I am not any kind of birth control. Can I be pregnant?…

Good luck to u. Please let me us know u status. Thanks.

I don't have any personal advice but after talking to my mother she said when she was pregnant with me...she missed a period (not sure if there was spotting), she tested, got a neg. She waited 2 weeks took another test and it was positive...she was pregnant with me. I was #3 and she had a totally different experience then with my sisters. It's possible!

Dear Amber,

If you had a true period there is zero chance of being pregnant.

The stories women tell of 'periods' while pregnant are not their periods. Yes, a woman can have bleeding during her period which may mimic a menstrual cycle--but it is not. Usually the bleeding is much lighter and shorter, more like spotting.

Think of it this--your baby-to-be implants in your uterine lining to be nourished for nine months. If you actually had your period--a menstrual period discards that lining, and your baby-to-be would go with it. That means you'd be having a miscarriage.

Hope that helps!

Thank you. I thought thats what it could be. I probably had a false pregnancy, or was just psyching myself out. I did have a full period, so I know that I cant be pregnant. I am sad, but it just isnt the right time, which is ok. Thanks everyone
